HOPE: Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences

Promoting positive childhood experiences across Oakland County

HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences) is a science-informed, strength-based approach that focuses on the power of Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) to build resilience and support healthy development.

HOPE in Action: By the Numbers

Since launching our HOPE initiative, we've worked to equip professionals and organizations with the tools and knowledge to center positive experiences in their work with families. These highlights reflect our community's growing commitment to HOPE-aligned practices.

At the Great Start Collaborative Oakland, we're committed to integrating HOPE into our community's work with children and families; shifting the focus from "what's wrong" to "what's strong."

Community Impact Highlights
  • 150 + professionals trained in HOPE-informed communication

  • 10 organizations actively engaged in HOPE-aligned practices

  • 85% of participants report feeling more confident using strength-based strategies

  • 4 community presentations delivered to raise awareness about PCEs

  • 2 new programs developed using the HOPE framework

Why HOPE Matters

Research shows that Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) play a vital role in buffering adversity and promoting lifelong health and well-being. HOPE provides a practical, compassionate framework for professionals across all sectors, including health care, education, home visiting, and community programs, to build relationships rooted in connection, safety, and belonging.
Together, we can shift systems toward healing and possibility.
